Prometheus Radio Barnraisings
Help us Build a New Low-Power FM Station
In the spirit of neighbors pulling together to put up a new building,
Prometheus holds radio barnraisings, events where we build individual community radio
stations while advancing the movement for media democracy. Prometheus barnraisings
allow new programmers to meet and new stations to compare notes on fundraising and equipment.
At a typical barnraising, we bring expert facilitators to lead workshops on all sorts of topics
of interest to new radio stations -- like organizing within the FCC, introductions to different aspects of
radio engineering, updates on media and democracy campaigns, and how radio can promote today's social change.
The events are open to anyone interested in community radio. Prometheus plans to organize four radio barnraisings/events this
year -- one in Nashville, Tennessee, a transmitter workshop here in Philadelphia, PA, a smaller project with local organizations in Chicago, Illinois and one in Northampton, Massachusetts!
Check back here to find out about upcoming barnraisings as locations are finalized.

Join us as we rebuild massive, ancient, transmitters for delivery to Central and South America, May 28th and 29th in Philadelphia!
We're taking the Prometheus grassroots building and organizing model to NEW FREQUENCIES!
The Prometheus Radio Project, led by incredible volunteer contractor Dharma
Dailey and Harold Feld of the Media
Access Project, is working to protect our access to even more of the airwaves. We're finding out the best ways to use
unlicensed parts of the spectrum to bring free internet access, internet radio, and more to communities all over the world --
and using what we all find to make responsible regulations, policies, and laws to protect our access to these
vital airwaves! Click here for ways to learn more, get involved, and help!

Microradio Empowerment Coalition
A Sister Project of the Prometheus Radio Project
The Microradio
Empowerment Coalition is a coalition of microradio stations, community
and civic groups, organizations, and individuals who are committed to
working together to replace the FCC's ban on low-power broadcasting with
a new regulatory setup that establishes a community based system of non-commercial
microradio stations, starting this year, and carrying over through radio's
transition from analog to digital broadcasting.
