Prometheus Radio Project has played a key role in the struggle to get licenses for community radio stations. Prometheus practices a mixture of research, advocacy, activism and direct services to organizations that want to start radio stations on the newly won rules for neighborhood radio. We offer internships to students who would like to help in our work, and who want the opportunity to develop their skills in radio and media activism. Interns will have the opportunity to work on the many aspects of our project, ranging from closely supervised work to independent projects.

Below are a few of the possible directions that their work could go, and skills that interns can have the opportunity to develop:

Research projects:

• Equipment for low power stations - cost and quality comparisons Investigating
• Studio-transmitter links
• Part 15 (flea power) AM stations
• Internet radio trends
• Digital Radio deployment
• Radio frequency allocation
• Other media democracy issues may be taken up by Prometheus, such as broadband rollout

Possible Activities:

• Outreach to non-profit and activist organizations
• Writing, production and distribution of leaflets, manuals, bulletins
• Soldering, equipment repair, studio set-ups
• Teaching radio skills
• Educational Strategizing and developing campaigns for democratic media
